The Bicycle Design Competition (BDC) 2025, organized by SAEINDIA Southern Section, is a flagship national-level event aimed at empowering undergraduate engineering students through a hands-on challenge of conceiving, designing, implementing, and operating a bicycle prototype from scratch. This competition mimics real-world engineering scenarios, where participants must perform trade-off studies and design compromises—balancing performance, weight, cost, and manufacturability—to arrive at optimal bicycle solutions. Through this immersive process, students hone both technical and soft skills essential for their future careers. BDC 2025 featured workshops, design report submissions, technical presentations, and prototype evaluation rounds. Each stage was designed to develop collaborative design methodologies, iterative testing, and industry-standard presentation skills. This comprehensive structure not only highlighted participants’ engineering capabilities but also their readiness to face professional challenges. The event was hosted at Knowledge Institute of Technology, Chennai, providing an industry-aligned environment where dozens of teams gathered to challenge their technical prowess and creativity. SAEOU at BDC 2025 Team Chaincrafters, representing SAE Collegiate Club, Osmania University, secured 19th place in this competitive national platform.
